Paul Daniel's Views On The World, For What They're Worth

Welcome to my blog.

So who is Paul Daniel? I live in Melbourne, Australia and reckon Melbourne is fantastic. I am a career-long IT professional, having been working in the IT industry since 1978 and in sales since 1992. I work as a Sales Consultant with Microsoft partner Readify.

I am passionate about volunteering in the emergency services, having been an active member of both the Tasmanian Ambulance Service, Australian Red Cross and Victoria State Emergency Service (SES).

I’m also passionate about my sport. I love following football (Socceroos, Melbourne City, Everton), AFL (St Kilda), Rugby Union (Wallabies, Melbourne Rebels), cricket (Australia, Bushrangers) and MLB (Toronto Blue Jays).

Consistent with my view that life’s too short to drink shit beer, I love drinking the good stuff, especially big heavy ales and stouts. Hence, I’m a big supporter of the Australian craft beer industry. I’m pretty keen on single malt whiskies as well.

Music is a big part of my life as well. My younger friends take the piss out of me about all the Doobie Brothers, Billy Joel and Elton John-vintage stuff in my collection. But equally, there’s a whole bunch of stuff there like The Killers, Kings of Leon and Bertie Blackman. I love female vocalists, people like Regina Spektor, Lisa Mitchell, Kathleen Edwards, Sia and Clare Bowditch. My all time favourites are Michael Franti, Loreena McKennitt, Lior, Jimmy Buffett, Regina Spektor, The Cat Empire and The Waifs.
